Frequently asked questions

What does “anti-diet” mean?

Anti-diet means I will not be focusing on changing your body size, but rather I will support you in developing healthy behaviours while prioritizing you and your relationship with food and your body. I will not be providing you with a diet or a list of shoulds/should nots. I do not discuss weight loss. It is OK if you would still like to lose weight, but I will ask you to put that on the back burner as much as possible.

What’s the difference between a “dietitian” and a “nutritionist”?

In Ontario (as well as other provinces and regions), “dietitian” is a protected title, meaning that they have to complete certain requirements to use this title. We are accountable to a regulatory college (for Ontario, The College of Dietitians of Ontario) to ensure we are providing up-to-date, accurate, and evidence-based nutrition care. “Nutritionist” is not a protected title in Ontario, therefore someone using this title may not have the education and/or experience to provide nutrition advice. They may be qualified, but it is worth reviewing their credentials. Please note, however, “nutritionist” is a protected title in other provinces and regions.

Do you do direct billing?

Unfortunately, I do not at this time. However, I will provide you with a receipt for your insurance provider to ensure you are able to be reimbursed.

Do my benefits cover your services?

Your benefits may cover dietitian services up to a certain amount. Check with your insurance provider!

I am interested, but I don’t know if I have the funds, is there anything you can do?

I am happy to discuss a payment plan or alternatives as needed. Please send me a message here.
